Does the Formare Institute provide transcripts at the end of a course?

Transcripts are available at nominal charge ($10) for all courses. Participants who have completed more than one course may request a single transcript that reflects all courses taken.

How much does it cost to study with Formare Institute?

Courses vary in price depending upon course length, content, and the degree of personal tutor involvement. Current individual course pricing ranges from $275 to $1,460. Many of the less expensive courses are designed to be taken by multiple participants within the same organization. This can provide consistency of learning, while avoiding the traditional overhead costs of travel and accommodation, as well as lost time from the workplace.

What exactly is a Corporate Standards Program?

The Corporate Standards Programs offer a range of services to extend the utility of the standard courses offered through the published Formare Institute curriculum. This program is designed primarily for companies that wish to integrate corporate training with new or existing and management plans.

Can Formare Institute help revise my current  and emergency plans?

Programs may originate in conjunction with new or revised and emergency plans that involve the services of FT.  In such instances FT’s Client Team Leader would work with the client to determine which courses best supported the overall plan, who within the client organization should take which course(s) and what the acceptable success criteria should be.  Care would be taken to strive for best practice as represented by the appropriate "industry vertical." This role would be part of the overall consultancy engagement covered under the original proposal and resulting fixed-price contract.

Will the Formare Institute offer specialized courses for my organization?

The Formare Institute offers a range of courses and curriculums representative of best practice regardless of industry. Added value to these courses is likely if they are customized to the specific needs of a client.  Such needs may extend from the "cosmetic" kind (featuring the company logo or other distinctive graphics) through more substantive changes (use of company terminology, text, definitions, and specific working practices). In extreme circumstances, the Formare Institute is able to create new courses to meet unique requirements that may not have a generic equivalent in the existing Curriculum.

If my organization pays for courses will they receive notice of my accomplishments?

Participant progress on an individual basis is monitored on all courses by the Formare Institute.  A further service is offered whereby the Formare Institute will monitor group or "class" progress on behalf of the company.  Periodic reporting (overall numbers passing, failing, incomplete, etc.) and the maintenance of independent records (for compliance purposes) is also available.

Can the  Formare Institute work with my organization's online university?

Some companies are already proficient users of e-learning, to the extent that many have established corporate universities.  The Formare Institute seeks to support these initiatives by integrating courses in as seamless a manner as possible to these universities and at minimal cost.

May I request a dedicated tutor?

Companies who have enrolled groups of participants in the same course may request the services or one (or more) Formare Institute tutors to supervise them.

If I get stuck in a course, who will help me?

Help is always close at hand. If your difficulty is technology-related, then contact our Help Desk via e-mail Educational Support. If you have a question about course content or an assignment, e-mail your personal tutor.

Every Formare Institute participant has an assigned tutor whose job is to support the education and training experience.  Your tutor will be introduced when you start your course.  If for any reason your Internet link is broken while in the Formare Institute, your place in the course will automatically be saved.  You will not lose the work you have completed.

Are courses available in languages other than English?

Not yet. Courses are expected to be available in Spanish in 2003 and other languages will follow.

What is a Learning Center ?

A Learning Center is a web-based location reserved exclusively for participants from your company. No other participant is given access. Participants successfully logging into a Learning Center will be able to study courses provided by their company.

How do I maintain contact with my tutor?

Contact is maintained by a messaging system that is built into the course. You can contact your tutor using the "Help" button in the main menu. How often you will need to contact your tutor will depend on the requirements of your course and your own personal need for assistance.

How long do Formare Institute courses last?

The shortest courses last approximately three hours; the longest courses may take five or more hours. Most courses last about four hours. But remember, all courses are comprised of short modules, typically about 15 minutes in length. That means you can take a natural break in your studies whenever you wish.

How am I assessed as a participant of Formare Institute?

All courses are assessed. During each course you will be presented with quizzes that appear at the end of each module. These allow you to check whether you have understood and retained essential information. The results of these tests are not recorded. The tests exist so you can monitor your own progress. You will also take a final exam and, depending on the course you are enrolled in, you may have assignments to complete and return to your tutor. The results of these exams and assignments are recorded and they reflect your overall success.

Are there pass and fail grades for courses? If so, who gets to know how well I've done?

All courses have a pass/fail criterion on the final exam, which is set at 85%. End of module quizzes are not part of this pass/fail criterion. Obviously you are the first to know how well you have done. For on-line examinations, you will know immediately once you have completed the exam. For written examinations you submit to your tutor, the turn-around time is a little longer, but you will get an answer by the end of the next business day. If your employer has paid your course fees, then whoever arranged your place on the course will also be informed of your final scores.  

How long do I have to complete a course?

You are encouraged to complete the course as soon as you are able.  However, we realize that this may not always be possible and that your studies may be interrupted by other priorities.  The Formare Institute will always allow a generous period of time for you to complete your course.  Typically this period is 60 days.

If I fail a final examination, am I able to repeat it?

Yes, but you will need to request a repeat examination.  E-mailing can do this.

How do I provide feedback on the course, assignments, tutor, and the technology?

Please feel free to pass along feedback to the tutor on the materials related to the course.  In addition, all participants will be contacted after completion of the course to obtain overall feedback on their experience.
